Libertarian Candidates on Ballot in NY State

Submitted by David Borden on
Unless someone filed objections to their submitted Petitions before Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, the statewide candidates of the NY Libertarian Party will be on the ballot in New York State. All the Libertarian Candidates oppose the war on drugs. I'm the Attorney-General candidate, Chris Garvey. I practice patent law and am a former gubernatorial candidate. I pledge NOT to use the limited resources of the Attorney General's office to wage war on New Yorkers who might use drugs. I also welcome suggestions on how the limited powers of the Attorney General can legally be used to help end the war on drugs. Senate candidate Jeffrey Russell is a former computer programmer for NY State government and lives in the Albany suburb of Clifton Park. He is emphasizing opposition to the Iraq war and the Patriot Act. Gubernatorial candidate John Clifton is a social worker, a Navy submarine veteran, and a former drug counselor from Queens in New York City. His campaign offers a twelve point agenda to "Bring Freedom Back To New York." Clifton's main issues are capping property taxes, repealing the Rockefeller drug laws, abolition of smoking bans and stopping eminent domain abuse such as the Brooklyn Nets Arena. Lieutenant Governor candidate Donald Silberger is a math professor at SUNY-New Paltz and a former candidate for the same office and US Senate. He wishes to raise as an issue the increasing numbers of those sent to prison who have committed victimless crimes. Comptroller candidate John Cain is an insurance consultant in Rockland County who wore a wire to expose political corruption. "I would question not just the numbers but the ideas behind the state and local government taxes, spending and borrowing. In particular, I would question the slippery numbers and assumptions put forth for eminent domain abuse schemes." The Libertarians are fielding candidates for US Congress and the state legislature in various localities.
